Privacy notice and PAIA
This notice explains what limited personal information this website collects, why it is collected, and how it is handled under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
What is collected
The firm collects only the information you choose to submit through the enquiry form: your name, organisation, role, work email address, the parties relevant to a conflicts check, the jurisdiction, an indication of deadline and budget, and your summary of the work required. The firm does not require a telephone number, a physical address or any identity document to receive an enquiry.
Why it is collected
The information is used solely to respond to your enquiry, to run a conflicts check, and to assess whether the firm is able to accept the mandate. Form delivery is processed by Netlify. It is not used for marketing and is not sold to third parties for their own purposes.
Retention
Enquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained only for as long as is necessary to maintain a reliable conflicts record, and are then deleted. Where an engagement follows, the information forms part of the client file and is retained in accordance with the firm's professional obligations.
Your rights
You may request access to the personal information the firm holds about you, request correction of that information, or object to its processing, by writing to the firm at its professional address. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Access to information (PAIA)
The firm's manual in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 is available on written request to the firm's Information Officer at the firm's professional address.
Website analytics and cookies
This website uses two analytics tools to measure aggregate usage and improve the site: Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookieless; and Google Analytics 4. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and processes usage data — pages viewed, referring source, approximate location and device — with Google as processor; IP addresses are anonymised and the data is not used for advertising or sold to third parties. You can decline analytics cookies through your browser settings.
Form delivery
Enquiry data submitted through the matter form is processed by Netlify solely to deliver the message to the firm. It is not used for marketing and is not sold to third parties.
